Buckle up. You're in for the ride of your life. Mitsubishi engineers work hard to make sure you feel more secure while you're driving.
Side-guard door beams offer an additional line of defense in a collision. Working with interior door padding, side-guard door beams are designed to resist intrusion into the cabin in case of a collision.
Available on the 2005 Eclipse Spyder GT, dual front side air bags add yet another layer of protection, in the event of certain serious side collisions.1 They are positioned in the upper sides of the front seats to protect the driver and front passenger. Once again, side air bags are fully effective only when used with safety belts.
A sophisticated, dual-function traction-control system is available on the 2005 Eclipse Spyder GT models equipped with the Sportronicâ„¢ sequential-shift transmission. Working with the anti-lock braking system (ABS), this feature will automatically apply brakes if it senses even the slightest slip at the wheels. Once the tires have sufficient traction, the traction control system will gradually release the brakes. This helps the driver to negotiate corners and curves more safely in all kinds of weather.
Crumple zones provide areas of energy-absorbing body structure at the front and rear of the car. The front and rear sections of the car are engineered to progressively collapse and help absorb impact in the event of a collision. And because the Eclipse Spyder has its fuel tank tucked between and slightly forward of the rear wheels, this feature adds protection in the event of a rear-end collision.
