The first car ever to bear the Porsche name was a roadster. Five decades later, everything we know so far about performance, safety, efficiency and exhilaration has crystallized into the latest, and greatest, evolution - the new 2005 Porsche 911 Cabriolet.
In many ways, the 2005 Cabriolet is the quintessential Porsche - if not in horsepower, then certainly in the total freedom you feel when you are one with the road. And the environment around it. The power to stir your senses is at your fingertips: At the press of a button, the compact folding top stows completely beneath the smoothly shaped rear deck lid, leaving room for the entire rear seating area. And uncovering the visceral rewards of open-air driving.
An aluminum-alloy hardtop, included as standard equipment, provides the 2005 Cabriolet with the security and all-season versatility of a coupe. The hardtop's clear, harmonious lines complement the new 911's styling with a unique window geometry and distinctive visual signature that is pure Porsche.
Just push the button on the center console or press the remote control integrated in the ignition key and the 911 Cabriolet's roof operation glides into action. The hood opens, the side windows are fully lowered, the hood storage compartment opens, and the hood folds neatly away.
The whole process is fully automated and, thanks to the clever concertina folding action, opening and closing take just 20 seconds to complete. The concertina action also means that the outer surface of the hood is always stowed uppermost, ensuring that the inner lining is protected at all times. The rear screen is made of plastic.
