The powerful 2005 3.2-litre engine offers even higher levels of performance than the standard Boxster engine, developing 185 kW at 6,250 rpm, and a full 305 Nm of torque from 4,500 rpm.
Transferring that power to the road is the job of the standard six-speed manual gearbox, specially developed for easier gearshifts and greater precision. Top speed in manual configuration is 260 km/h. 0 to 100 km/h is an astonishing 5.9 seconds, while 100 to 0 takes just 2.7.
The 2005 Boxster S has a low center of gravity at the heart of the car for an extremely agile and responsive drive. The engines in the Boxster and Boxster S are identical in terms of engineering, the only difference being the capacity.
The 2005 Boxster engine offers outstanding driveability, torque and cylinder charging, as well as being extremely smooth. The secret of this refinement is the forged steel seven-bearing crankshaft, enclosed in an aluminum crankcase. The valves are actuated via four overhead camshafts, with hydraulic tappets negating the need to adjust the clearances.
Fuel injection and ignition are controlled by the Motronic ME 7.2 engine management system, which for the first time on the Boxster now features an electronic throttle.
The 2005 Boxster S develops 185 kW. Maximum torque is 305 Nm. Outstanding flexibility means that the engine can easily achieve its rated speed, even in top gear. In other words, the Boxster S always has plenty of power on tap. Just as you'd expect from a true Porsche.
